Jonathan is an artist with a lifelong passion for both wildlife and drawing. Graduating from Art College with a First-Class Degree in Design, he worked for many years as a Natural History Illustrator, producing a diverse portfolio of artwork for many organisations including National Geographic, Harper Collins and the BBC.
More recently, Jonathan’s focus has shifted from the stricter constraints of illustration to producing more ‘fine art’ paintings inspired by personal encounters of wildlife in the British Isles and further afield, as well as newer subjects including landscapes and figurative works, He has been observing wildlife for over 35 years, documenting his sightings in notebooks crammed with sketches and field-notes over that time. This vast wealth of experience, getting to know his subjects first-hand through hours of study in the field, is reflected in the accuracy and authenticity of his work, beautifully documented with an ability to capture light that few other artists achieve. His paintings hang in public and private collections around the world.
