This is one of my favourite paintings, inspired after many hours watching and sketching the paddy workers and the associated birds in the rice fields around Panjim in Goa, India. The juxtaposition between wildlife and man was visually incredibly exciting for me to witness. Alongside the egret species and swallows depicted here, the paddies abounded in many other species of birds including sandpipers, bee-eaters, kingfishers, pratincoles, herons and various raptors.
