Each print is individually numbered and signed by the artist, and is printed to the highest standard using the Giclee print process. The dimensions indicate the actual size of the artwork; each print has an additional white border for framing.
The original painting was inspired following an early morning walk in the Scottish borders on a crisp February morning, having earlier watched blackcock lekking in the adjacent valley. Although I wasn’t fortunate to see any deer that morning, I was captivated by the light on the hillside vegetation, and knew it would be a perfect setting for a stag. In order to make the work as authentic as possible, the lighting on the stag was modelled using reference of the many sheep I saw during my walk.
