This bird held territory on the small marsh that bordered the campsite where I stayed during a trip to North Uist in late Spring. Every time I left the campsite either by car or on foot, I would invariably hear his distinctive call before spotting him, often flying up from the marsh to perch on one of the many snarled tree stumps that served as fence posts surrounding it.
